Budapest to renovate Chain Bridge, castle tunnel
Budapest, April 5 (MTI) – The Budapest general assembly on Wednesday decided to renovate the city’s historic Chain Bridge and the nearby tunnel beneath Castle Hill.
Work starting this summer is scheduled to be completed by end-2019.
All 28 representatives voted to approve the 22 billion forint (72 million euros) project covered by the city’s own resources.
The bridge’s bearing load must be brought up to appropriate safety standards, according to the reasoning given for the project.
